When do fuel prices change in the Philippines? Weekly. Fuel prices in the Philippines — gasoline, diesel and kerosene — are adjusted once a week: the oil companies (Petron, Shell, Caltex, Seaoil and others) announce a new per-litre amount on Monday afternoon, typically between noon and 5 PM, and it takes effect at 6:00 AM the following Tuesday, Philippine time. Mid-week adjustments happen occasionally when the world market moves sharply or when fuel taxes change. Every weekly adjustment is recorded in the Department of Energy’s Oil Monitor bulletin, published each Wednesday.

What time exactly does a price change take effect? 6:00 AM Tuesday, Philippine time (UTC+8). Every weekly fuel price adjustment in the Philippines works this way: the oil companies announce it on Monday afternoon and it reaches the pump at 6:00 AM the next morning. That makes Monday night the last chance to fill up at the old price, and it is exactly when Presyo Patrol sends its alert.

What is MOPS and why does it decide the price? MOPS (Mean of Platts Singapore) is the regional benchmark price for refined product — gasoline, gasoil, kerosene — traded through Singapore. It sets the weekly fuel price adjustment in the Philippines because the country imports nearly all of its refined fuel, so the local pump price is essentially MOPS plus freight, duties, excise, VAT and margin. This week’s MOPS is generally next week’s Philippine pump price, from 6:00 AM Tuesday.

Why do fuel prices go up? Three things drive fuel prices up in the Philippines: regional refining margins (diesel can rise while crude is flat, for instance after a refinery outage in Singapore or South Korea), Dubai crude plus the peso-dollar rate since cargo is paid in dollars, and taxes — excise and VAT feed straight into the pump price. The Philippine oil industry has been deregulated since the Oil Deregulation Act of 1998, so the companies, not the government, set the price. The Department of Energy’s weekly Oil Monitor bulletin records what each week’s adjustment actually was.

What is a rollback? In Philippine fuel pricing, a rollback is a price decrease — the opposite of a hike, locally a taas-presyo. It follows the same weekly schedule as a hike: announced by the oil companies on Monday afternoon, effective 6:00 AM Tuesday. Presyo Patrol does not nag about rollbacks — there is no reason to rush to a station when prices are falling, so it says so once and leaves it there.

How much have fuel prices risen in 2026? Cumulatively since January 2026, from the Department of Energy’s Oil Monitor record that Presyo Patrol keeps: diesel +₱59.06 per litre, gasoline +₱54.92, kerosene +₱51.65. Complete through the adjustment effective 25 August 2026. These are changes in the nationwide price, not pump prices: a litre of diesel costs ₱59.06 more than it did at the start of 2026, wherever in the Philippines you buy it. The figures update themselves each week as new bulletins land.

Is the price the same at every station? No — not in the Philippines. What the oil companies announce each Monday is the change in price per litre, not the price itself. Absolute pump prices differ by brand and location, and highway stations are usually dearer than ones inside a subdivision. The weekly adjustment, however, is close to uniform nationwide, which is why Presyo Patrol tracks the adjustment and claims no per-station price.

Where does Presyo Patrol’s data come from? Presyo Patrol’s figures for Philippine gasoline, diesel and kerosene come from two sources with two different jobs. Philippine news coverage from Thursday through Tuesday gives the weekend estimate and Monday’s announcement — that is what the alert is built on, because you need to know before 6:00 AM Tuesday. Then every Wednesday Presyo Patrol pulls the DOE Oil Monitor, the Department of Energy’s official weekly bulletin, and that becomes the authoritative record; where the alert and the bulletin disagree, the bulletin wins and the row is corrected. Anything not yet confirmed is labelled “estimate only” rather than dressed up as certainty. The whole record is downloadable rather than merely readable: every adjustment on file is published as a CSV under CC BY 4.0, generated from the database on request so it is never a stale snapshot, and free to republish with a link back.

Open presyopatrol.com, tap “Enable alerts” and allow notifications, and it pushes you a message on Monday night whenever a Philippine fuel price adjustment is due to take effect at 6:00 AM Tuesday. On iPhone you must add it to the Home Screen first for push to work; the app walks you through that on iOS. You can mute any of the three fuels you do not use.
